Roles and Responsibilities of Executive SRC & Social Justice Committee

The Student Representative Council consists of 4 elected Year 6 students who make up the Executive Committee for a year and one student per class from Years 1 – 6 who form the council each semester.

The Social Justice Committee assists in developing the awareness of assisting those less fortunate than ourselves both locally and globally. This committee works to fundraise money and promote the awareness of social justice issues in our world.

SRC Executive

  • Set-up and host Monday morning Gathering Assembly
  • Set-up and host Wednesday morning School Assembly (with the assistance of the Student Representative Committee)
  • Attend two to three SRC meetings per term learning the role of Chairperson and Agenda planner (President & Vice-President) and Minute-taker (Secretary). Treasurer reports any money matters.
  • Meet with the Leadership Team to discuss school issues (frequency TBA) and the whole school focuses (e.g. weekly focus on manners, rubbish collection
  • Attend National Young Leaders’ Conference on 21 March
  • President and Vice-President to report back to the school community via assembly speeches and newsletter items on relevant issues and events
  • Provide informal feedback to students in the playground who are doing the right thing (use counters as a reward and reinstate faction free dress days with the consent of leadership team and staff as a whole)
  • Treasurer to assist in counting monies collected from fundraising activities
  • Raise and lower the school flag on a daily basis. Raise the Aboriginal flag during NAIDOC and National Reconciliation Day.
  • Represent the school at relevant functions that arise.
  • Prepare and present reports at the end-of-year Graduation Ceremony.

Social Justice Committee

  • Heroes Award (twice per term)
  • Term 1: Under the direction of the Leadership Team and Assisting Teacher, promote Caritas’ Project Compassion. Collect associated monies. SRC Treasurer to count.
  • Term 2: Under the direction of the Leadership Team and Assisting Teacher, promote the Archbishop’s Annual Lifelink Fundraiser.
  • Term 3: Under the direction of the kids for kids Committee, promote and assist in events related to this fundraiser. Collect associated monies. SRC Treasurer to count.
  • Term 4: Under the direction of the Leadership Team and Assisting Teacher, promote and coordinate the St Vincent de Paul Annual Christmas Hamper Appeal. Present hampers to the Local Chapter of St Vincent de Paul at end-of-year Mass.
  • Attend National Young Leaders’ Conference on 21 March (TBA)
  • Under the direction of the Leadership Team and Assisting Teacher, promote and coordinate one-off fundraising events (e.g. Leukaemia Bandana Day, Boardies’ Day)
  • Prepare and present reports at the end-of-year Graduation Ceremony.

SRC Class Representatives

  • Assist in hosting the Wednesday morning School Assembly
  • Attend two to three SRC meetings per term. Bring Suggestion Box. Executive and Y5 and Y6 members to take a mentoring role, assisting younger members to practise their Assembly lines. They could also educate younger representatives on the purpose of the Suggestion Box and how to increase interest in its use
  • Promote and implement any activities developing from meetings/suggestions that have been approved by the Leadership Team (e.g. Pyjama Day)
  • Under the direction of the Social Justice Committee, assist in preparing promotional materials (e.g. posters etc) for fundraising activities
