Student Leadership

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF EXECUTIVE SRC & SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE

The Student Representative Council consists of 4 elected Year 6 students who make up the Executive Committee.

The Social Justice Committee assists in developing the awareness of assisting those less fortunate than ourselves both locally and globally. This committee works to fundraise money and promote the awareness of social justice issues in our world.

 

SRC Executive

  • Set-up and host Friday morning Gathering Assembly
  • Set-up and host Friday morning School Assembly
  • Lead the school in morning prayer
  • Meet with the Leadership Team to discuss school issues (frequency TBA) and the whole school focuses (e.g. weekly focus on manners, rubbish collection)
  • President and Vice-President to report back to the school community via assembly speeches and newsletter items on relevant issues and events
  • Provide informal feedback to students in the playground who are doing the right thing (use counters as a reward and reinstate faction free dress days with the consent of leadership team and staff as a whole)
  • Raise and lower the school flag on a daily basis. Raise the Aboriginal flag during NAIDOC and National Reconciliation Day.
  • Represent the school at relevant functions that arise.
  • Prepare and present reports at the end-of-year Graduation Ceremony.

 

Social Justice Committee

  • Heroes Award (twice per term)
  • Term 1: Under the direction of the Leadership Team and Assisting Teacher, promote Caritas’ Project Compassion. Collect associated monies. SRC Treasurer to count.
  • Term 2: Under the direction of the Leadership Team and Assisting Teacher, promote the Archbishop’s Annual Lifelink Fundraiser.
  • Term 3: Under the direction of the kids for kids Committee, promote and assist in events related to this fundraiser. Collect associated monies. SRC Treasurer to count.
  • Term 4: Under the direction of the Leadership Team and Assisting Teacher, promote and coordinate the St Vincent de Paul Annual Christmas Hamper Appeal. Present hampers to the Local Chapter of St Vincent de Paul at end-of-year Mass.
  • Under the direction of the Leadership Team and Assisting Teacher, promote and coordinate one-off fundraising events (e.g. Leukaemia Bandana Day, Councilies’ Day)
  • Prepare and present reports at the end-of-year Graduation Ceremony.
